Preparation for Redwood Server Installation
Before you start the installation and configuration of the central Redwood Server system, you have to complete the following steps:
- Check the requirements for the central Redwood Server system. See Checking Hardware and Software Requirements.
- Prepare the installation files. See Preparing the Installation Files.
Checking Hardware and Software Requirements
The following table lists the requirements.
The installation host for the central Redwood Server system must meet the following requirements:
Hardware Requirements
Requirement Type | Requirement |
---|---|
CPU | 2 x 2.0 Ghz Intel processors or equivalent |
Memory | 4GB or more |
Disk space | 400 GB - This figure assumes history data for 10 million processes with an average process output size of 10 KB. The actual disk space requirements may vary depending on the number of processes and the size of their output. |
Because of the number of different permutations of operating system environments possible when using a virtualized environment (such as VMware), Redwood cannot guarantee that running Redwood Server in such an environment will deliver optimum reliability or performance. If problems are experienced when running Redwood Server in a virtualized environment, Redwood support will use best endeavours to re-create and help resolve the problem. In some situations Redwood may require the customer to demonstrate that the same issue will occur while running Redwood Server in a native (non-virtualized) instance of the same operating system environment.
Redwood Platform Requirements
Redwood Platform simply requires a supported Java 11 or 17 (recommended) JVM, supported by the JVM vendor (Eclipse Adoptium Temurin, IBM Semeru, Oracle). If JVM-specific issues occur that are not reproducible on the tested JVM's, then the customer will need to contact their JVM vendor for support. Note that it is highly recommended to choose a recent release of any platform, as the support lifecycle might force you to upgrade earlier with older releases. For example, Windows Server 2019 has a End of life of 1/9/2024 (January 9th, 2024), which means that around that time you will have to upgrade Windows to avoid the extra support costs - note that if a newer version of Windows Server is available or will be available before the beginning of the project, you should use that. This holds true for UNIX platforms as well.
note
If you want to schedule SAP workload, your platform must support SAP JCo 3.1 (SAP JCo 3.1 or later recommended). See support.sap.com/en/product/connectors/jco.html; you will need your SAP Service Marketplace login (for example SAP S-User) to log in. Choose SAP Java Connector > Tools & Services.
System Requirements
Requirement Type | Requirement |
---|---|
Database requirements | Oracle (11.2 to 19c), IBM DB2 (10.5 to 11.5), SQL Server (2012 SP3 to 2019), PostgreSQL (9.6 to 12.3), SAP HANA version 2 or later. |
note
On Microsoft SQL Server, you must enable row versioning-based isolation.
See the Database Prerequisites for more information on supported databases.
