Introduction
Redwood Server is an event-driven process automation and scheduling tool.
It provides the following facilities:
- Event-driven process automation.
- Asynchronous workload management.
- Complex process flows.
- Business driven schedules.
- Workload routing and load balancing.
- Monitoring and managing present and future workload.
- History, logging, and auditing of previously executed work.
The main functionality offered by Redwood Server allows you to create complex process schedules with relative ease. Core functionality can be expanded with specifically tailored modules that enhanse the overall capabilities and speed up implementation time.

Manage Unix/Windows/OpenVMS Workload | Standard Platform scheduling using platform agents. Numerous scripting languages are supported like CMD, VBS, and PowerShell on Windows, DCL on HP OpenVMS, or bash, ksh, csh on UNIX. Various interpreters are supported on multiple platforms, such as Perl, Python and the UNIX shell script flavors, provided an interpreter is installed on the target system. |
Manage ERP Workload SAP | Submit and monitor processes on a number of ERP platforms including SAP, Oracle Applications, Oracle Health Insurance, PeopleSoft. Some ERP systems even allow workload interception. Each vendor is supported through a dedicated module. |
Database Workload | Using the JDBC interface schedule workload across databases; a number of database vendors are supported. |
Mainframe Workload | Two solutions are supported for mainframe JCL workload: FTP-control and mainframe platform agents. This functionality is supported through a dedicated module. |
Manage AS/400 | Using a public Java library developed by IBM, schedule workload on AS/400 systems. This functionality is supported through a dedicated module. |
Web Services | Schedule processes on third-party platforms using the web services (SOAP) interface and interact with Redwood Server from third-party applications using web service calls. This functionality is supported through a dedicated module. |
SAP Financial Closing Cockpit Integration | Allows automation of closing processes to be managed by Closing Cockpit users. Requires SAP Financial Closing Cockpit from SAP. This functionality is supported through a dedicated module. |
SAP Adaptive Computing | Allows you to control (start, stop, and relocate) services in an SAP Adaptive computing environment. This functionality is supported through a dedicated module. |
SAP System Copy | (Deprecated) Automate SAP System-copy processes with ease and reliability. This functionality is supported through a dedicated module. |
